Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1. How much time does it take to make spring onion pakoras?
Ans: It usually takes around 20–25 minutes. Just make sure to soak the chana dal for 3 hours in advance.
Q2. How to make pakoras crispy?
Ans: Mix rice flour and gram flour properly in the batter, and fry pakoras on medium heat. Too high heat makes them brown quickly, but leaves them raw inside.
Q3. What can I serve with spring onion pakoras?
Ans: Serve them hot with tea, green chutney, tamarind chutney, or tomato ketchup.
Q4. How hot should the oil be for frying pakoras?
Ans: The oil should be medium hot. Very hot oil burns pakoras from the outside, while cold oil makes them soggy and oily.
Q5. Are spring onion pakoras healthy?
Ans: Yes, they contain protein-rich chana dal and fiber from spring onion leaves. But since they are deep-fried, enjoy them in moderation.
Q6. Can I prepare the pakora batter in advance?
Ans: Yes, but for the best taste, prepare fresh batter. Always add salt and flour just before frying.
