Ingredients
  

  • 200 gm Thin poha flattened rice (The main ingredient, ensure it's the thin variety)
  • 1 Medium-sized cucumber peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 Medium-sized onion finely chopped
  • 1 Small tomato finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves
  • 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar adjust to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 Lemon Juice

Tadka or tempering or seasoning :

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 inch ginger
  • Pinch of hing powder asafoetida
  • Green chillies
  • Curry leaves

Instructions
 

  • Ensure the thin poha is clean and ready to use.
  • In a mixing bowl, add the chopped cucumber, onion, tomato, coriander leaves, and grated fresh coconut and mix well.
  • Add powdered sugar and salt to the mixture. Mix thoroughly.
  • Heat oil in a tadka pan, add cumin seeds, ginger, asafoetida (hing powder), green chillies, and curry leaves. Saute well.
  • Add the prepared tempering to the poha mixture. Ensure it cools slightly before adding.
  • Squeeze lemon juice over the mixture.
  • Use your hands to mix everything together gently but thoroughly, ensuring the flavors combine well.
  • The Patal Poha is ready to serve.
  • Optional : You can also add coconut water for a different twist.
