Ingredients:
- Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 2 Bay leaves
- Curry leaves
- A pinch of Asafoetida (Hing)
- 1 Medium-sized onion
- ½ inch Ginger
- 2 Green chillies
- 7-8 cloves of Garlic
- A little dry Coconut
- A pinch of Turmeric powder
- 1 Medium-sized Tomato Chopped
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- ½ tsp Coriander-Cumin powder
- 1 tbsp Kolhapuri Masala Powder
- 2 tbsp Toor Dal (split pigeon peas), soaked for 30 minutes
- 2 tbsp Masoor Dal (red lentils), soaked for 30 minutes
- 3 Medium-sized Potatoes, cut into small pieces
- 2 glasses of warm water

Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, bay leaves, curry leaves, and asafoetida (hing).
- Add chopped onion and saute until golden brown.
- Add (ginger-green chillies-garlic and dry coconut) paste. Saute for a minute.
- Add turmeric powder and tomato, cook for 2 minutes.
- Add salt, garam masala powder, and coriander-cumin powder. Mix well.
- Add Kolhapuri masala powder and mix well.
- Add soaked toor dal (split pigeon peas) and masoor dal (red lentils). Saute for a minute.
- Add potato pieces and saute for 2 minutes.
- Add warm water and mix well.
- Cook on medium heat until done. (For a cooker, cook for 3 whistles on low heat.)
